Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below shows reserved time periods, not exams that have been confirmed. It is important to confirm with your teacher whether or not the final exam for a course will be conducted during this time.

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, conditions and guidelines and exam content. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness, hearing or visual impairment, contact the exam provider directly. Faculty can find their exam times via the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. The Registrar's Office also has a list of exam times for classes that must be tested under NYSED regulations. For evening classes exams, they are scheduled at the regular class meeting time during the final week of exams.
Please be aware that the Projected University Examination Schedule is only a guideline and that the dates for the final exam are subject to change.
Registration
The exam schedule is accessible online and students are encouraged to review it. It is important to remember that the schedule for exams can change at any time. Students should therefore inquire with their instructors for the exact time and date of their exam. Students should also print the official list to bring with them to the exam.
Students should also familiarize themselves with the rules and conditions of the exam in addition to the exam schedule. These are on the page for each exam. Upon registration, students acknowledge that they have read and agree to these terms and conditions.
Exam locations make every effort to accommodate students who have special requirements. The nature and degree of these needs should be declared on the registration form, and then confirmed by an attestation from a doctor. In addition the exam sites must be kept confidential.
If a student is scheduled to take three exams on the same day, they should contact their instructor or department to schedule a make-up test. It is possible to have three exams on the same day. However, this can cause a lot of stress and affect the quality. The professor might not be able give a makeup test on another day.
Students should review their course materials prior to taking the exam and must practice their German skills. The test is a written test that measures your ability to read, speak, and write German. The examination results are reported on a scale of A1 to C2. Students who pass the exam receive an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies that the student has reached the level of language A1. This level corresponds with the first level of the six-level scale of competency laid out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free. Students are required to carry a valid government ID to the test. Students who do not have a valid picture identification will be disqualified.
Fees
You will have to pay an examination fee for the opportunity to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This is in addition to the cost of the course.
Practice tests allow you to get a feel for the style, wording, and difficulty of the questions on the test. They allow you to assess your knowledge level, find gaps in knowledge and improve your chances of passing the test.
